As a classically trained calligraphy, engraving and hot foiling artist, Zhao specialises in live event artistry across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, bringing calligraphy, engraving and hand-foiling to brands such as Tiffany & Co., Maserati and The Hour Glass.
Zhao's journey into paper and ink began in childhood, spending hours on craft projects for family and friends. Calligraphy intrigued her early on, but for years she only admired it from afar — as a left-hander in an industry built for right-handed instructors, it felt out of reach. When she finally found the right teacher, that changed fast: hobby turned into obsession, and in 2022, obsession became Grey Lavender Calligraphy.
Today, alongside live event work, Zhao also runs calligraphy workshops for those wanting to learn the craft themselves, and takes on custom commissions and stationery pieces for personal celebrations like weddings and anniversaries.
